In this paper, the exponential energy functional for a smooth map between Finsler manifolds and Riemannian manifolds is introduced and the rst and second variation formulas are obtained. Then, the stability of exponential harmonic maps from a Finsler manifold to the standard unit sphere Sn(n 2) is investigated.
