Acid gas enrichment (AGE) is used to upgrade low quality off-gas from treating units to higher quality Claus plant feed through maximizing the H2S concentration in Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) of a gas refinery. The present research deals with optimization the methyl diethanolamine (MDEA) circulation rate in AGE uint of South Pars Gas Complex 9th Refinery. The process modeling was carried out according to the genuine data and the results were presented. From the results, the amine circulation rate can be decreased significantly, while maximally absorb H2S from the acidic feed gas. It was found that MDEA circulation rate can be decreased 50 tonne/h without noticeable variation in the products quality. Accordingly, the operating costs comprising MDEA cost, low pressure (LP) steam in reboiler and depreciation cost of the equipments will be lowered by decreasing the amine ciculation rate. The economic benefit from the decreasing in MDEA cost will be more than 360 million tomans.
