The present study is to examine the mechanical properties triple polymer nanocomposite based on PET/EPDM/Nanoclay and the corresponding microstructure. Therefore, impact and tensile were considered as mechanical properties and SEM techniques were used to examine of this nanocomposite polymer. The mechanical properties and microstructure of PET/EPDM mixture and the changes made by the addition of compatibilizer (Styrene-Ethylene/ Butylene-Styrene)-G-(Maleic anhydrate) (SEBS-g-MAH) were examined with the percentages of 7.5, 15 respectively. It was observed that addition of 15% of SEBS-g-MAH to the mixture (PET/EPDM) maximized the toughness and impact strengh of this nanocomposite polymer, indicating that the most stable fuzzy microstructure was achieved in a 50/50 mixture of scattered phases of EPDM/SEBS-g-MAH, as shown in SEM images. Since the addition of elastomeric phase weakens properties such as module and stiffness, the use of nanoclay as reinforcing agent has been considered to compensate the weakness of the mentioned properties. We examined the effect of nanoclay on mechanical properties and the fuzzy microstructure of this blend through the addition of closite 30b with cobmination of 1,3 percentages. It was observed that with the addition of 1% of nanoclay to optimal sample, maximum stiffness and impact strength among other nanocompostes can be achieved.
