Reaction and heat transfer of 1,1 diethoxy butane (DEB) production were simulated by CFD method. The column was filled by katapak SP-11, one type of modular catalytic structured packings, in the reactive section. Mole fraction of each component and temperature at the inlet and outlet of all reactive stages were presented. As the results show, the conversions are decreased due to generation of products and increase the mole fraction of DEB and water in the liquid. As the reaction is exothermic, the rate of rising in temperature decreases as the conversion rate decreases. The Results show that the mean relative errors for prediction of mole fraction and temperature were 10% and 3%, respectively. In conclusion, the results show that using CFD can help to better understanding the phenomena occurring in reactive distillation processes.
