In this work, the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solutions by using microalgae Scenedesmus is studied. The effects of various parameters, i.e. the initial concentration of MB (10-200 mg/L), temperature (22, 30 and 37oC), and pH (5, 7 and 9) on the uptake is investigated. The results show that the uptake increases with increasing both temperature and pH value, in the temperature range and pH range studied in this work. According to the results, the effect of temperature on the uptake is higher at lower pH values, while its effect dwindles with the increase of pH value. The results show that the maximum uptake of 87.69±3.22 (mg/g) occurs at pH of 9 and a temperature of 30oC. Thet adsorption isotherm models of the Langmuir, Tempkin and Freundlich are used to describe the equilibrium adsorption data. The results show that the Langmuir isotherm model is the most accurate model with the root mean square error of 2.22 mg/g.
