Photocatalyst materials have been of considerable interest due to their application in eliminating environmental pollutions. Among the photocatalyst semiconductors, titanium dioxide is known as a photocatalyst for the removal of environmental contaminants. In this work, the carbon quantum dots (CQDs)/TiO2 composite was used as photocatalyst for UV assisted degradation of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous solution. First, CQDs were synthesized by hydrothermal/solvothermal rout using citric acid and thiourea as precursors. Products were characterized by using FTIR, UV-Visible Spectroscopy and Photoluminescence (PL) analysis. Then, CQDs modified TiO2 photocatalyst were prepared by facile sol-gel method. Produced composite was used as photocatalyst in methylene blue solution with 10 mg/l concentration under UV lamp. After 200 min, final solution was characterized by UV-Vis Spectroscopy and results showed that 80% of methylene blue had been degraded.
