Coal mineral has a nonporous carbon fabric with an extremely large surface area along with a large number of surface C-O functional groups where hazardous materials can absorb. In this research, an effective sorption, in the form of fine powder, was prepared from coal mineral for removing methylene blue from aqueous solution. Various parameters, which can influence the adsorption like, mesh size of adsorbent, contact time; adsorbent dose and initial concentration of methylene blue were analyzed. The obtained adsorption isotherms fitted well into the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm. Maximum adsorption capacity was found at 108 mg MB per g of the coal mineral. The result of adsorption kinetics shows that the pseudo-second order kinetic model provided a good correlation in compare to the pseudo-first order model.
