steel slag SS is a by-poduct material in the steel making process that usually is stored in large landfill sites and occupies a large space near steel making companies nowadays in some developed countries SS is used as a raw material in other industries for instance a high abrasion resistance property of this material has been proven therefore it provides to use SS as course aggregates in pavement layers on the other hand one of the main problems of asphalt concrete in central areas of Iran like esfahan is low stone polich value SPV of aggregates. this problem causes asphalt surface to be poliched during the service time as well this leads to causes an increment in braking distance of vehicles decrease in traffic safety and incrase in crashing subsequently.
