Production of hot mix asphalt (HMA) requires a lot of energy consumption, exhaustion of CO2 and other unfriendly environmental materials. Consequently, Warm mix asphalt (WMA), a new paving technology originated in Europe, allows a reduction in temperatures at which asphalt mixes are produced and placed. Its benefits are reducing energy consumption and decreasing emissions of burning fuels, fumes and odors generated at the production plant and at the paving site. On the other hand, in recent years due to the high index of energy use in Iran (2.5 times of the Middle East average consumption), policies and programs have been aimed to reduce energy index. This policy acts with a balanced set of price measures including the elimination of energy subsidies and as well with emphasis on strengthening the country's energy-saving tools and features. Therefore in this study and in line with this policy, different methods of producing WMA patented yet will be discussed from the technical and economical points of view.
