Applying alternative renewable energy sources seems to be a promising route to cover environmental problems cause from fossil fuels. Biomass and waste residues from different industries are the two perfect sources for innovative and clean bioenergy. Among different technologies of energy production, supercritical water gasification of biomass (SCWG) is a relatively new one which is less harmful to the environment. SCWG produces hydrogen as a clean energy from biomass sources. In this study, supercritical water gasification experiments of glycerol/methanol mixture as a model compound of crude glycerol, the byproduct of biodiesel production, was carried out at various temperatures (350, 375 and 400 °C), constant retention time of 45 min and feed concentration of and 4wt%. The effect of key factors was studied on the mole fraction of gaseous products and it was found that at high temperature, H2 mole fraction increased and CH4 mole fraction decreased. The maximum mole fraction of H2 (37%) obtained at optimum operational conditions of 400 °C, 45 min and 4wt% with ratio of 1:1 glycerol/methanol mixture.
