Flow of pellets was studied in a Würster coating device. For this purpose, Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose / Polyethylene glycol coating solution was used for coating glass beads in the Würster coatingdevice. It was found that the minimum spouting velocity occurs at the maximum pressure drop across the draft tube and across the annular region. According to the experimental results, stable spouting can be obtained at about 1.2times the minimum spouting velocity. It was also shown that during the coating experiment, a higherminimum spouting velocity leads to more rapid movement of pellets in the draft tube at the beginning of the coating process. This study provides valuable information about the Würstercoating device which can be used for a more uniform coating.
