In this study, Fe-TiO2/Al2O3 powder nano-catalysts were synthesized by sol-gel technology for
degrading Direct Red 16 dye under visible light. All of the synthesized catalysts were calcinated
within a furnce at temperature of 550°C. Initially, optimal ranges of Fe-TiO2 and TiO2/Al2O3
catalysts were obtained by screening method under optimum pH of 2.8. For these catalysts, the
values obtained from performing screening were selected within the range of 3 to 7 and 0.1 to 0.3,
respectively. The optimum contents of Fe-TiO2/Al2O3 for maximum degrading of the dye was
obtained based on RSM, 99% in 120 minutes. The contents of the synthesized catalyst for having
this maximum photocatalytic activity was 7wt.% of Fe-TiO2/Al2O3 with mass ratio of Al2O3/TiO2
as 0.11/1 in. The experimental result for this catalyst content was 98.3%. Increasing of the amount
of Fe3+ to TiO2 particles results in reduction of energy capacity band gap and enhancing the
activity of visible light.
