In the present work, the effect of polar amino acid, L-histidine on carbon dioxide hydrate growth kinetics has been investigated. The experiments are performed in the concentration of 0.5 to 2 wt.%, temperatures of 273.65 to 275.65K for cooling stage, and the initial reactor pressures of 25 to 40 bars. A central composite experimental design is used with a response surface method to optimize the mount of gas storage through the gas hydrate process. Finally, based on the kinetics of the obtained data for each test, the amount of CO2 gas storage and the time of hydrate formation in the reactor were investigated.. The results show that the presence of L-Histidine amino acid in the aqueous solution improves significantly the response rates for the two studied cases. L-histidine is a benign additive,which provides significant enhancement in the carbon dioxide hydrate formation kinetics and can be used for various hydrate based technologies such as carbon dioxide storage and CO2 sequestration for transport and displacement of methane.
