It is necessary to separate two immiscible liquids from gas to produce the light liquid, heavy liquid and vapor phase. For such separation in industry, the three phase separator is used. In this research study, the weight of the three phase separator was minimized with the genetic algorithm (G.A.) and finally the total cost for manufacturing separator was decreased. Our study separator works in the operating condition of 25 psig and 100 ºF, respectively and the real weight of the separator is 17920 bm. For the optimization target, the weight of separator was considered as objective function. The maximum difference between the obtained solutions of weight of the separator was 3.3%, that is acceptable. The weight of the optimized separator was calculated 12989 bm approximately. So with this method, the total weight of seperator decreases about 24 % compare to the real weight of seperator. The presented approach can have potential application for development of low cost manufacturing of three phase separator in the petroleum industry.
