In this study a new correlation for gas holdup prediction in bubble column reactors containing different alcohol type and concentration is presented. The studied bubble column reactor in this research contained aqueous alcohol solutions with different concentrations and gas flow rates. Gas holdup could be predicted by the proposed correlation in wide range of aqueous alcohol solutions with acceptable accuracy (R2=93%). Based on obtained correlation for predicting gas holdup, it is recognized that surface tension of liquid phases can affect the accuracy of suggested correlation. This correlation is based on superficial velocity and physical properties of gas and liquid phase. Hence, it can express the effect these properties on gas holdup.
