The existance of NH3 in purge streams of commercial ammonia production plants not only produces NOx when it is burned, but also can be harmful for the other processes when purge gas is directly used and not burned. Removal of such low ammonia amount of Purge stream requires carefully selected and highly efficient equipment. In this study, the packed tower of a petrochemical Plant was modeled and the results were compared with experimental data. There was a good agreement between model and plant data. Furtheremore, the variation of liquid phase temperature, gas phase temperature and ammonia concentration along the reactor length were evaluated.
