Leak Detection of E-5214 Heat Exchangers by Ultrasonic Method in Persian Gulf Star Gas Condensate Refinery

Ultrasonic method has the highest economic and time benefit to leak detection of heat exchangers. In this paper, the leak detection procedure of E-5214 shell and tube U-type heat exchangers in naphtha hydro treatment unit is presented. In the first step, external and internal leakage of all series-parallel heat exchangers in the service was detected and it was determined that in the E-5214-E exchanger the leakage occurred. In the second step, after opening the Channel Head and simultaneously pressuring the shell with water, leak detection of heat exchanger tubes has been done. At the end, the results are obtained and the economic benefits of this method are mentioned.
