In the current work, a mathematical model is proposed to predict the bed-to-surface heat transfer based on momentum and energy balances between dispersed and continuous phases. The fully implicit finite difference method is used to solve the governing equations by generating 2D temperature profiles along the bed. By these 2D temperature profiles, space and time averaged heat transfer coefficients can be estimated. Also, the effect of physical properties of solid and gas phases on particle convective heat-transfer coefficient have been considered. Finally, the results from the proposed mathematical solution are in general agreement with published experimental data for similar operating conditions. The results of this work give more information on the thermal behavior of continuous and dispersed phases, which improves the understanding of particles and gas phase heat transfers under different operating conditions in fluidized beds.
