In this paper, a mathematical model is presented for simulating two-zone fluidized bed reactors (TZFBR). Propane
dehydrogenation has been chosen as being representative of the one of the main uses of this kind of catalytic reactors.
TZFBR divided into two zones by feeding propane and oxygen at different levels – propane and oxygen are fed at top
and bottom of the reactor, respectively. Two models have been used for this simulation: the fluid dynamic model and
the kinetic model. By applying these models, most of the trends in the steady-state condition checked with the available
experimental data and found they can be well forecast. Moreover, dynamic condition was simulated. According to the
accuracy of this modeling, it can be concluded that dynamic conditions can be done as well as steady-state modeling.
By doing these modeling, some parameters that could not be determined experimentally, such as the velocity of solid
circulation, turned out to be among the most important reactor-related variables.
