Effect of using reflectors inside a basin solar still

In this paper, the effect of using internal reflectors in a single-slope basin solar still is investigated theoretically and experimentally. The experiments were conducted using two geometrically similar single-slope basin solar stills with and without internal reflectors for a 24 hour period. In the theoretical part, a new radiation model is developed which accounts for the effect of all walls on the amount of incident solar radiation to the base and water, for the first time. The results of the proposed model are compared with the present experimental data; the comparisons are very good. Then, using the suggested model, the effect of covering each wall of the solar still with reflectors is studied separately.
