Separation of benzene/cyclohexane mixtures is one of the most challenging industrial
problems which is traditionally carried out using extractive or azeotropic distillation.
Pervaporation membrane process could be considered as an appropriate replacement for these
complex and expensive processes. Polyimide is a resistant polymer which could be employed to
prepare polymeric membranes for this purpose. In the present study matrimid membranes were
prepared and applied for the separation. The obtained results including the flux and ideal
selectivity of membranes represent the potential of this polymer for organic-organic separations.
