Separation of methane/ethane mixture is an important separation process especially in OCM (Oxidative Coupling of Methane)
process. Here, two types of adsorbents namely, activated carbon (AC) sorbent, and carbon molecular sieve (CMS) sorbent, are
proposed to be highly effective materials for CH4/C2H6 separation. The experimental adsorption isotherm data for CH4/C2H6
mixture on those adsorbents is available. The Toth isotherm was used to correlate the data. ADSIM software was used to
simulate this process. After modeling the bed, simulation of the process was performed for both adsorbents. Simulation results
indicated that carbon molecular sieve has the better selectivity in the separation than activated carbon. Thus it was selected as
the best adsorbents. Then the effect of parameters such as temperature and pressure on the adsorption rate was studied.
