The extractive distillation section of Butadiene unit has been simulated in steady-state conditions. It is mainly consists of
three important interconnected columns so that their simulation should be done simultaneously. Simulation of columns carried out in
two modes as programming in Matlab-7.5 and using Aspen-plus software. Equilibrium stage model and SRK equation of state were
used in Matlab. The systems of equations including Mass balance, Equilibrium, Summation and Energy balance (MESH) were
solved simultaneously by quasi-Newtonian Broyden-Householder method. Radfrac model and PSRK equation of state were used in
Aspen-plus software. Simulation results for temperature, pressure, and composition of fifteen considered components were
determined. The comparison between simulated results and industrial data extracted from Tabriz petrochemical complex shows good
agreement.
