In the new hydrodesulphurization (HDS) process by integrating the reaction and separation units in a single
reactive column, the fixed cost and operating costs can be reduced, as well more flexible operating conditions will be
achievable. For investigating both the design and operating aspects of reactive columns, computer simulation is needed.
This study was performed using the innovative RIPI (Research Institute of Petroleum Industry) method in different
conditions such as various operating temperatures and pressures for gas oil feed. In this paper, the effect of changing the
feed temperature on the simulation results will be investigated. Moreover, since the heating of a pilot scale column
using an external jacket is possible, the simulation results of an lateral heated reactive column is presented.
