Subcritical water extraction (SWE) is a technique based on the use of water as an extractant. CFD modeling of
extraction was considered in this work. As the temperature of liquid water is raised under pressure, between 100 and
374 ºC, the polarity decreases markedly and it can be used as an extraction solvent for a wide range of analytes. The
model was verified successfully using the subcritical water extraction data for Zataria multiora Boiss. leaves at 20 bar
and 150oC. The effect of temperature in CFD modeling was studied. The results indicate that increasing operating
temperature from150 to 200°C increases the extraction concentration.
