The methanol conversion was investigated on dealuminated mordenite (DM) and a series of Metal/DM
catalysts prepared by impregnation (IMP) technique. Catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and
nitrogen adsorption/desorption (i.e.; BET surface area measurement) methods. Chemical analysis was performed using
induced coupled plasma technique (ICP). The conversion of methanol over different metal/mordenite catalysts was
compared at the temperature of 460ºC, weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) of 1h-1 and catalyst weight of 2 g.
Several metals (Fe, Ag, La, and Ca) incorporated into the mordenite to prepare Metal/DM catalysts some of which
displayed high selectivity toward producing propylene; however, this property dropped off rather quickly. Ultimately,
La/DM catalyst was determined to be the best material for this purpose due its stability, in other words, long time-onstream
(TOS) performance.
