Complex heterogeneous catalytic reactions have been considered that proceed via strongly chemisorbed species (SCS):
methanol, pyrocathechol, and diphenylamine syntheses, as well as hydrocarbon aromatization. Under typical conditions
of these processes, the composition of a surface layer is determined rather by adsorption substitution reactions (ASR)
than conventional Langmuir steps. Modeling the processes should, therefore, comprise both ASR and chemical
transformation reactions of SCS. This approach provides the completely adequate kinetic description which can be used
to control and optimize overall processes above.
