Calcium has been back produced from wells and has concentrated in the glycolated water loop up to saturation point.
Once the saturation point reached, calcium started to precipitate as CaCO3 in large amount. Scaling occurs currently mainly at
the beginning of the sea line after the injection of glycolated water. The high pH of the glycolated water (containing MDEA) and
the high temperature (about 65 C at full gas production) of the gas at inlet of the sea line promote the precipitation of calcium. It
is therefore necessary to remove these salts in order to avoid carrying on scaling on the topsides and in the sea line and avoiding
heavy operations like acid cleaning or scrapper pigging campaign. The glycolated water reclaiming by using resins appears as an
attractive and cost-effective solution. It is able to remove cations and anions of the glycolated water in a few months. In this
work in addition to confirmation the necessity use of MRU in phase2&3, due to reservoir rock type, the effect of this unit on the
PH of sea line when the corrosion protection of pipe line is based on PH stabilization mode will be surveyed. The experimental
and theoretical data shows that with starting MRU due to decreasing MEG and MDEA concentration, PH of sea line gradually
starts to decrease. So for prevention from corrosion problem it is necessary to increase MEG/MDEA injection and concentration.
