The dilute acid hydrolysis of lignocellulosic material is an important part of producing valuable chemicals from such
Lignocellulosic materials. Penetration of acid into solid phase could be a rate determining step in this process that
depends on type and size of substrate, concentration of acid and operating conditions. In this paper we modeled this
penetration in four more common Lignocellulosic materials consisting of bagasse,corn stover , rice straw and yellow
Poplar. In each condition we found critical sizes.For materials with coarser sizes diffusion is the rate determining step.
