In this work we describe the electrochemical and electrocatalytic properties of carbon ceramic electrode
(CCE) modified with Tin nitroprusside (SnNP) nanoparticles as a new electrocatalyst material. The electrocatalyst was
constructed by using of sol-gel technique and characterized by energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), Fourier transform
infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques. The modified electrode
showed electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of l-cysteine and reduction of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and was
used as an amperometric sensor. The calibration plots were linearly changed over the L-cysteine and hydrogen peroxide
concentrations in the ranges of 1 – 51 μM and 0.5 – 69.4 μM, respectively. The detection limit (for a signal to noise of
3) for L-cysteine and hydrogen peroxide were found to be 0.62 μM and 92 nM, respectively.
