The influence of organoclay (OC) loading on the properties of low density polyethylene (LDPE)/ethylenevinyl
acetate (EVA) blend was investigated. A series of samples with and without OC was prepared using the melt
mixing method. In these samples the content of EVA was varied between 0-30 wt parts while the content of OC in the
case of nanocomposites was kept to be 5 wt parts. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microcopy (SEM),
theoretical approach based on interfacial energies, rheological and mechanical properties were utilized to analyze the
characteristic of the LDPE/EVA blend with and without OC. Morphological analysis along with rheological and
mechanical characterization revealed that OC is mainly dispersed in the EVA phase, even though a few is likely present
in the LDPE phase as agglomerates.
