Accurate prediction of bubble point pressure of a hydrocarbon mixture has been of concern for a long time in petroleum
industry. Most of previous generalized empirical correlations suffer from unreasonable accuracy for prediction of
bubble point pressure of hydrocarbon mixtures. In this study, adequate analyses of phase envelope on the basis of Patel
& Teja equation of state (PT EOS) and its modification by Valderrama (VPT EOS) for various petroleum reservoir
fluids and a few number of C1-FC10 binary mixtures was performed so that a novel semi-empirical correlation for
prediction of bubble point pressure of hydrocarbon mixtures is proposed which utilizes both PT & VPT EOS. It has
been found that the proposed correlation is of higher precision and accuracy in predicting bubble point pressure of
hydrocarbon mixtures than the conventional EOS, e.g. Peng-Robinson EOS which is known as the most reliable
equation of state in petroleum industry. The proposed model also shows enough accuracy for predicting of dew point
pressures as well.
