Rainwater collection and disposal systems are important components of urban planning and development. Any negligence in their design can be problematic for human societies. Lack of proper design of canal dimensions or incorrect estimation of flood discharge with different return periods, can cause flooding of the city. Therefore, in this study, the condition of the Western catchment area of Tehran has been investigated and the effectiveness of executive solutions including the construction of retarding basin, detention basin, delayed tanks and slope correction of the canal floor has been investigated by the Autodesk Storm Sanitary Analysis (ASSA) software model. The results show that the implementation strategies have had a significant effectiveness in transmitting floods.
