A sensitive and highly selective, fluorescent nanosensor for Hg2+ ions is reported using a polymerizable 1,8naphthalimide derivatives containing thiourea side chain(N).Synthesized monomer(N) was characterized by DSC, FTIR, 1HNMR techniques. Fluorescence nanofibers were fabricated via electrospinning method. Morphologies, structures and photoluminescent (PL) properties of flourogenic nanofibers are characterized by (SEM) and fluorescence spectrophotometery. Its sensing behavior toward metal ions was investigated. Prepared nanofiber films exhibited high selectivity and sensitivity for recognition of Hg2+ ion over other metal ions with “turn-on” fluorescent enhancement. The results showed that nanofibers could serve as a novel fluorescent nanosensor for further application in environment and bio systems.
