In this study, we derive the Yajima-Oikawa (YO) equation by the use of its zero-curvature representation. We then calculate the corresponding Riccati system based on its Lax pair on the space $ mathbb{CP}^{2} $. Moreover, we present some intriguing results in terms of the links connecting the Lax pair, the YO system, and the corresponding Riccati equations.
