There are different methods for diagnosing partial discharge in transformers. In this paper, two significant methods, including dissolved gas analysis and the electrical PD measurement, are deployed for diagnosing partial discharge in a real transformer as a case study. It is shown that using DGA, which is a cheap and easily accessible test, utilities can detect early symptoms of PD in a transformer. Afterwards, employing the electrical PD measurement, it is feasible to measure PD of a transformer. Combining the methods proposes an economical and technical tool for detection and measuring PD in transformers. Moreover, the efficiency of the methods in detecting the fault is examined.
