Since the energy density of current lithium-ion batteries is approaching its limit, the development of new lithium-ion-based battery technologies for high energy storage in the next generation is significant. Until now, various membranes have been prepared using different polymers for use in lithium-ion batteries, which can be named poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) [1-3], polyacrylonitrile and polyethylene oxide [4]. PVDF is a semi-crystalline and thermoplastic polymer with high mechanical strength, chemical resistance and good thermal stability, which are very important for use in membranes [5,6]. In this project, in order to increase the conductivity of lithium ion and the amount of electrolyte absorption, polymer electrolyte membranes based on PVDF-HFP and functional mesoporous based on silica are prepared for use in lithium-ion batteries. By adding one and a half percent of mesoporous compounds to the membrane matrix, the prepared polymer electrolyte membranes show better ionic conductivity, electrolyte absorption and performance than the pure PVDF-HFP membrane. The ionic interactions between the mesoporous compounds and the PVDF-HFP membrane play a role in increasing lithium ion transport.
