Green refractory mortar which is an alumina chrome mortar is used in steel factories, including induction furnaces, electric arc furnaces or blast furnaces that have slide gate systems. Effects of the chemical composition and particle size on the adhesion and strength properties of green refractory mortars were studied using FESEM, X-ray diffraction and particle size distribution diagram. The results showed that the Al2O3, SiO2, Cr2O3 and NaAl11O17 phases were characterized in samples. The adhesion and strength properties of the sample with more Al2O3 and Cr2O3 phases, smaller and more uniform particle size (S1) were more than the other sample (S2)
