In this study, monodispersed magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles of varying shapes, including nanospheres and Self-oriented flowers, were synthesized via co-precipitation under the flow nitrogen method. The shape of these nanoparticles was regulated by adjusting the quantity of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS). Without the addition of SDS, Fe3O4 nanospheres were produced, while the introduction of 0.1 g of SDS led to the formation of a Self-oriented flower. The phase structure, particle shape, and size of the samples were characterized using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The FESEM images revealed the different morphologies of magnetite nanoparticles. Moreover, the TEM images demonstrated that the addition of SDS can prevent the agglomeration of magnetite nanoparticles. The XRD results confirmed that all the magnetite nanoparticles were of pure Fe3O4 phase with distinct diffraction peaks. This research provides valuable insights into the synthesis and characterization of monodispersed magnetite nanoparticles, highlighting the role of SDS in controlling particle shape and preventing agglomeration. The findings have significant implications for the development of nanomaterials with tailored properties.
