Every year, the production of gypsum waste in large quantities causes many environmental problems all over the world. Since gypsum recovery is expensive, and due to the presence of harmful substances in it, if it released into the nature, it would lead to many environmental problems. Therefore, using it in construction structures such as soil stabilization can minimize these problems. In this research, after clarifying the chemistry of gypsum and its production rate and the methods which are using to deal with its waste, the effects of gypsom on soil stabilization were discussed. It was found that gypsum together with materials such as fly ash, cement, etc. can deliver better results in soil stabilization.
