Previous studies on the seismic behavior of soil-pile-structure interaction showed that piles might suffer severe damage during earthquakes. It is, therefore, essential to design piles and structures based on their seismic performance. Due to the diversity of factors affecting the system s response and inherent complexities, the methods used in analyzing the soil-pile-structure system are generally unable to investigate all aspects of the problem. Due to the need for a better understanding of the soil-pile-structure interaction mechanism, research in this field is still ongoing. In this paper, different approaches from several prominent studies are assessed.
