Application of fragility curve analysis is progressively expanding worldwide for seismic risk analyses of structures. Despite wide use of this method for structural elements such as beams or frames, concentration on using this method for geotechnical structures is relatively scarce. Hence, the current study tries to decrease ambiguity regarding this method and its requirements to increase the application of this method for geotechnical structures. Detailed descriptions of this method are explained using three significant examples of fragility curves of concrete dams, cantilever retaining walls, and pile-supported wharves. Finally, five essential steps were defined for developing fragility curves for geotechnical structures.
