The Interactions of Islam and the West

The story of the Muslims interactions with the Christians and the Jews in History, has been both sweet and sour. But, in nowhere else, it has been more colorful than in the Iberian Peninsula, i.e. Spain and Portugal, from the 8th up to the 16 century, A.D. In this brief study, we shall try to cover the Interfaith Intellectual Interactions between these three Abrahamic Faiths, in that part of Europe, which is very unique in many ways, both in its positive aspects, as well as in its dark moments. This study covers the period of 711-1509 A.D. from the beginning of the Moro/ Muslim/ Conquest of the Iberian Peninsula up to the Re- Conquista” (the expulsion of both the Muslims and the Jews, from the Peninsula, by the so-called Reyes Catolicos (the Catholic Kings) of Spain and Portugal, starting in the 14th and the 15th centuries A.D.
