Aim and Background: Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) are made by metal ions and organic linkers. The connection of these metal ions to organic binders causes the formation of cavities with certain shapes. Owing to their extraordinarily high surface area, highly tunable character, adjustable surface chemistry and functionality, and their capacity to accommodate various guest molecules, metal – organic frameworks (MOFs) have become good candidates for biological applications. MOFs used for biomedical applications are often called “BioMOFs. The past few years have reflected the enormous potential of BioMOFs as substrates for drug delivery and cancer therapy. Methods: The desired BioMOF including carboxylic acid as linker and Cu2+ as metal node were made in the presence of polysaccharide (PS) and drug (Curcumin, Cur) by changing parameters such as concentration and pH, at room temperature by biomineralization method. The obtained product was called PS/Cur@BioMOF. Results and discussion: The morphology, size, functional groups and crystallinity of the products were examined using SEM, FTIR and XRD. Drug loading and release were investigated. Conclusion: The aim of this project was the synthesis of BioMOFs with the biomineralization method with acceptable loading and drug release.
