Aim and Background: The combination of drug delivery and gene therapy could be considered a new approach for treating one of the most common types of cancer among men, prostate cancer. This study is aimed to synthesis and characterize niosomes containing miRNA-15a for improving prostate cancer treatment. Methods: Firstly miRNA-15a was synthesized on cationic niosomal system, then Du-145, PC3 cancer cells, and HFF normal cells were treated with none-loaded niosomes, free miRNA-15a and miRNa15-niposome and cell viability was calculated by MTT assay. Results and discussion: Along with appropriate features of niosomes, MTT results showed that the viability percentage of Du-145 and PC3 cells treated with non-loaded niosomes, free-miRNA-15a, and miRNA-15a niosome were 100%-99%, 97%-98%, and 90%-88% respectively. Conclusion: Niosome containing miRNA-15a opens a new safe window for the treatment of prostate cancer.
