Aim and Background: cyanobacteria and Plants suitable for phytoremediation they can help clean up many types of contaminants including metals, pesticides, explosives, and oil. However, they work best where contaminant levels are low because high concentrations may limit plant growth and take too long to clean up.One of the most efficient adsorbents in the field of removing pollutants from water is iron oxide nanoparticle. Methods: coated iron oxide nanoparticles were prepared using spirulina algae solution. Spectrometer was used to check the absorbent structure and SEM was used to check the particle size. The size of nanoparticles was determined to be 60nm. Results and discussion: Synthesized nanoparticles were used to extract the toxic metal cadmium at pH=9, 10 mg of iron oxide nanoparticles were coated and used for 20 minutes in water solutions containing blue green algae .Nanoparticles synthesized with blue-green algae extract are able to bond with heavy metal ions and as a result remove heavy metals from the soluble environment. Algae together with magnetic nanoparticles are recommended for treatment of dental wastewater and removal of mercury in its effluents.
