Aim and Background: In this study, the effects of progesterone solid lipid nanoparticles on sperm viability and acrosome reaction were investigated. Methods: Progesterone SLNs were prepared using the solvent emulsification evaporation method. 20 sperm samples were separated from semen and were divided into 3 groups including control (C), progesterone SLNs (NP), calcium ionophore (CU) groups. Acrosome reaction and sperm viability were assessed. Results and discussion: The developed progesterone loaded SLN showed the nonometric particle size of 189.5 nm with the polydispersity index of 0.150 and zeta potential value of - 24 mV. In the group NP, sperm viability and acrosome reaction was increased (P 0.05). Conclusion: Progesterone solid lipid nanoparticles increased significantly acrosome reaction and sperm viability in compared to the control group.
