The steel surface pattern has been effective factor on physical and mechanical performance of organic coatings. In the present study, the average of roughness(Ra) influence and maximum distance between valley to top (Rz) on 4 different type of steel sheet have been evaluated by various types of laboratory tests such as MEK rub, impact, cross cut, pencil hardness and T-bend. The result showed that increase of Ra and Rz leads to improve physical and mechanical tests of coating on steel. It also found other important parameters such as size and distribution of interlocking sites on steel surface which caused better adhesion. Surface pattern had impressive role to make a superior adhesion, as S1, S2 samples had better adhesion than S3, S4
