Surface adsorption is one of the methods of removing pollutants from water and the environment. One type of adsorbents, zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are a subset of MOFs composed of metal centers (such as Co or Zn) and imidazolate linkages (Nazir, Najam et al. 2022). Aniruddha et al synthesized bimetallic ZIFs ((Ce,Zn)ZIF-8 and (Ce,Co)ZIF-67) and selected them to compare with each other in terms of CC (Carbon Capture) performance. Both adsorbents showed good initial CC values with (Ce,Zn)ZIF-8 showing a better adsorption value of 3.77 mmol/g compared to the adsorption value of 3.55 mmol/g from (Ce,Co)ZIF-67. The highest absolute CC value of 4.55 mmol/g was given by 15% DEA loaded (Ce,Zn)ZIF-8 adsorbent. Temperature and diethanolamine (DEA) loading effect were the two most effective factors on CC adsorption values, while carbonation time and adsorbent amount individually had the least effect. Both adsorbents, when subjected to the cyclic adsorption process, retained 94% of their initial CO2 adsorption in 15 cycles, performed well, and showed higher adsorption capacity and cycle stability (Aniruddha, Shama et al. 2022). Khabazipoor et al. zeolite imidazolate framework 8 (H/ZIF-8) and bimetallic H/ZIF-8, H/ZIF-8@La and H/ZIF-8@Cu with a simple and green synthesis method and their performance for sulfate adsorption Prepared from the environment. Using water as solvent, process parameters (temperature and crystallization time), as well as compositional parameters (amount of 2-methylimidazole and 2-(methylamine)ethanol), were studied. Determining different thermodynamic parameters showed that sulfate absorption is possible spontaneously and three samples of H/ZIF-8 are endothermic in nature. Absorption in H/ZIF-8 samples was not affected by competing anions of nitrate, chloride and fluoride, but phosphate showed little negative effects. Used H/ZIF-8 samples can be regenerated and reused in eight consecutive cycles with a suitable descaling agent. (Khabazipour and Anbia 2021). Duo et al prepared two-dimensional metal-organic nanosheets (Ni-ZIF-8) by a simple solvent-free method. The morphology and composition of Ni-ZIF-8 can be controlled by adding different amounts of nickel, and then 2D magnetic nanosheets (Ni/ZnO@C) were synthesized by direct pyrolysis of Ni-ZIF-8 in an argon atmosphere. Magnetic solid phase electrophoresis (MSPE) was investigated for the determination of nitroimidazole antibiotics (NIABs). Magnetic Ni nanoparticles embedded in carbon nanosheets uniformly resulted in high magnetic saturation of Ni/ZnO@C for easy separation. Due to the high specific surface area and high mass transfer rate of Ni/ZnO@C, the materials showed satisfactory adsorption capacity and fast adsorption kinetics for NIABs. This method has been successfully used for the analysis of NIABs from environmental water samples with satisfactory recoveries ranging from 74.33 to 105.71%.(Duo, Wang et al. 2021). The results showed that the synthesized bimetallic ZIFs showed a significant adsorption capacity compared to the synthesized monometallic samples. Also, bimetallic ZIFs with two distinct metal ions have special synergistic effects that show the performance and stability of water oxidation better than individual monometallic ZIFs.(Nazir, Najam et al. 2022, Shahzad, Zulfiqar et al. 2023).
