A new analytical method is suggested for the computation of avalanche velocity by solving differential equation which is nonlinear.Flow of an artificial release of an avalanche has been modeled from the concepts of underwater explosions dynamics with appropriate modifications to the present studies[1].One of the added advantages of the present model over the earlier models is that, the present model accounts for the concepts of residual stress and gravitational stress in the basic momentum equations[2]. The results indicate that, the present model gives higher results in comparison to the model has been studied for the rate of mass flow, which is generally one of the flow parametric requirements at the time of design of control structure for the avalanches.
